Tsavo National Park
Expansive savannahs, red elephants, and dramatic landscapes await in one of Kenya's largest national parks.
Overview
Tsavo National Park is Kenya's largest national park, covering nearly 4% of the country's total land area. Divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West by the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, this vast wilderness offers one of Africa's most authentic safari experiences. The park is renowned for its red elephants, which get their distinctive color from bathing in the red volcanic soil. Tsavo East is characterized by flat, dry plains and the Galana River, while Tsavo West features more varied topography with rocky outcrops, volcanic hills, and the crystal-clear Mzima Springs.
